What are the signs of bad brakes on a Dodge Neon?

Usually if you can hear the squeaking of the brakes it might be an indicator that they need to be changed. Also if you can feel the grinding while pushing on the brakes you need to have your brakes changed. The same goes for any vehicle, not just Dodge Neons.

There are multiple signs of pending brake failure. A change is pedal feel, either becoming very hard or very soft could indicate either low fluid or stuck pads. Shaking when braking is indicative of worn rotors. Squealing when breaking is worn pads. Squealing all the time is a dropped pad.

Well the most obvious sign is that it is harder to stop the car with the a normal amount of force. If the pedal pushes back as you brake that is a sign of bat rotors. The best thing to do is visually inspect your brakes for wear.

A shrill screeching noise when you step on the breaks is a good indicator of breaks that have worn down.

If you have to push down hard on the brakes it could be the brakes, or if the brakes squeek, you may have them fixed or replaced.
