You can have the same side effects as any surgery. You run the risk of infections or blood clots which is also the biggest risks. To help avoid these side effects, make sure you totally know the surgeon doing the procedure and ask many questions.

Swelling of the ankles and the area that was lipoed. Brusing is another common side effect. Scars are a side effect as well as blood clots and infection. Most of these side effects are temporary. If you decided to have liposuction, some of the side effects may be loss of nerve function, extra fluid retention, or it could cause friction burns that may be rather unpleasant. Consult with a physician and weigh all options.

The two major side effects of liposuction are the same as any other procedure where the skin's outside barrier is crossed. These risks are infection and bleeding. If numbing medication is used, allergic reaction is another possible risk.
