What are the requirements for getting into the Air Force Academy?

A neighbor's son was interviewed at his home for the AFC. He did not qualify at that time. His parents where surprised that not only was his GPA not acceptable, but he had no community involvement either, no scouts, no talents, no nothing. They looked at his entire life, which they were the least prepared for. It was too late.

Successful completion of the USAF Prep School is not a guarantee of admitance but helps. You also need three excellent letters of recommendation, one being a nomination from your congressman.

For getting into the Air Force Academy, you must be a U. S. Citizen, unmarried, between 17 years old and 23, of good moral quality, and exhibit high leadership, physical and medical standards. You must also secure a nomination from a U. S. Senator or Representative. Admission is competitive, with the average SAT score around 1270, and average GPAs upwards of 3. 86.
