At younger ages, it is useful for giving the children a needed break from intellectual instruction. At all ages, it promotes educating both the mind and body. In much research, cognitive function actually increased with a high-intensity physical education program. In addition, it teaches the ability to function in social situations that the classroom could never address.

PE is a part of a well rounded cirriculem. If taught well they cover not only physical fitness and how to lead a more healthy lifestyle, but health as well.
