Some of the most reliable brands out there are as follows: alpine, pioneer, kenwood, and sony. Stay away from pyle, dual, and the like. I prefer pioneer, and have had problems with JVC.

Right now Alpine is the big name in car stereos. It has been that way since the early 1980's when I had one in my Corvette and now my son has an Alpine in his Honda Accord as do most young guys with tuner cars.
