The male goldfish will begin to chase the female goldfish around. The male will also develop white pimples on his gills.

If you are concerned about having more goldfish in the tank, one of the signs would be the male chasing after the female in the tank. Then the female deposits her eggs. Then, the male lets his sperm out and the tank will look white and cloudy for a few days.
