What are the disadvantages to being an only child?

The main complaint that a lot of parents with only one child is that they aren't as socialized as other children and tend to be a little more selfish and spoiled. A quick fix for that is enrolling a child in day care at a young age.

That isn't true. They are more sociable; more welling to share and help other people. They are not selfish/ spoiled just the opposite. Only child have more compassion and more welling to help people in need such as co workers or strangers or cousins or neighbors. More responsible adults. add a comment

Only children get a double dose of parenting, which means they can seem like adults because they are primarily around adults, but it also means they may not be as mature on the inside as they act and that can be a problem. Also, having siblings teaches children how to share and solve social problems (it's my turn).

they might be under confident and have less friends then a child with siblings and they will be ruder because they have all of the attention also studies show most will be more depressed and have more health problems because they have no sibling to pass say the chickenpox to

They may become over reliant on their parents and may have trouble coping with problems they may face when they grow up. Might lack self-confidence.

Some of the disadvantages of being an only child are the ability to be social and makes friends is lesser since there is less interaction with others growing up.

All true. That's because people give them the cold shoulder for no reason or have a bigot attitude toward the them or lay judgement against . Just because he or she happens to be the only child. That's why some might not have any friends or little interaction as adults add a comment

There is neither good or bad to be the only child or one with sibling.It is all depending on what type of sibling you had.

most people that have siblings dont want them and most people that dosent have siblings want siblings. so it actualy depends if you felt having sibling or not. me i hate my siblings i wish they would just dissapeare that concludes my presentation. thank you for reading see ya later
