The main disadvantage of metal roof is the higher installation charges. It requires professional services as it can cause leaks in panel joints if it is not installed properly. The noise caused by falling rain can be annoying to some people and flying hail and debris can cause damage.

The biggest disadvantage of a metal roof is the noise factor. Rain and wind are amplified when they beat against a metal roof. You will also have to worry about lightning striking the roof, bends and twists in the metal and the heat it soaks up from the sun during summer.

Probably the biggest disadvantage is the prices. They can cost a lot more initially then a typical roof but do last longer. They can also be a big pain to install especially on a roof with a lot of angles. They can also be noisier on some has to.

Some people get upset about the sounds a metal roof can bring such as rain or hail falling. This can be a lot of noise. I think the biggest thing is probably the price of a metal roof. Sounds like it would be cheap but it definitely isn't.

One of the main disadvantages of a metal roof is the cost of installation, it is a lot higher then installing a asphalt roof. Some of the other disadvantages to some is the sound of rain falling on the roof and denting from hail.

From what I heard the metal roof is less to install and quiet if well insulated and reflects heat . It can cause avalanches by sliding snow
