Processors can be divided into two main groups: RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) and CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computer). CISC is used mostly PCs, while RISC remains prevalent in appliances.

Intel and AMD are the largest producers of reliable processors. Intel's processors include the Celeron, Pentium, Core2, and the i5 and i7 series. AMD's most popular processors include Sempron, Athlon, and Phenom. Each series has several versions based upon the socket, cores, and cache size.

There's quite a few division criteria for processors. First, you can divide them by bandwidth, having 32 bit, 64 bit and other(older) processors. You can divide them up by manufacturer (Intel or AMD), socket (determines which motherboards can mount them, making it, say, for Intel i7, i5, for AMD 939, 940, etc. )

There are many different processors on the market. But the INTEL and AMD are the best processor's. but both have pros and cons each company has its own brands and family series. There are 2 type of processor's, 32bit and 64bit. 64bit is more powerful. But its requires more Ram.

AMD and Intel, 32bit and 64bit which is twice as powerful and better as the 32bit. But in order for you to have a 64bit processor you need more RAM.
