There are two types of electrical outlets for electric dryers. The National Electrical Code requires all dryer recepticals install after 2000 to be four prong. If your home was built before 2000, then it would be safe to say you have a three prong recepticle. If your home is newer then a four prong is needed.

There are 3 different types of electrical plugs for dryers. This is a common problem when someone moves and needs a different cord. You can buy and replace the cord.

Thankfully now it does not matter what type of outlet your house and dryer has because they make adapters. You just need to look at the plug in your house and match it to your new dryer if it is not the same buy the adapter.

There are four types of electrical outlets for modern day electrical dryers. These dryers have four connection points. The first one is a ground connection having round blade. The second connection is a neutral one having L-shaped blade and the remaining two connections are hot feeds which have straight blades.
