Keep in mind it has to be fireproof, so materials are limited. Mostly they're brass, cast iron, wrought iron, tempered glass, or copper. If it's for decorative purposes only no fire, then it could be would or decorative glass. What would make any of them unusual would be the design

Stained glass screens are by far the most interesting. You can choose from thousands of models or you can have one custom-made (it will be more expensive, of course, but the unique look and feeling will be totally worth it). The best part is you can find one to fit any decoration you already have in the room.

Most fireplace screens are made out of wrought iron because that is a good material for keeping the fire contained. Meyda Tiffany makes some very decorative and different fireplace screens, they are made from wrought iron and glass with a stained glass effect. They are definitely unusual.

These need to be metallic or fire-resistant glass. You can get a medieval-looking cast iron one online which is stylish.
