What are the best ways to treat constipation in opossums?

An enema will get your opossum going again - literally. Use soap and water and be very gentle. Opossums may be a little fussy when you try this initially, but the end effects are great. Be prepared for the outburst though - don't get drenched in it!

How about a little oil given rectally through the anus - it's less work and has almost the same effect on a constipated opossum. May be worth a try! You will need less than an milliliter of mineral oil to get the gut moving. add a comment

Give the opossum plenty of fruits and some greens. Nothing like a lot of fiber to get the gut going again! It's healthy, natural and perfectly safe. You opossum will be grateful to you for all the tasty fruits!
