The main symptoms of throat cancer are pretty simple: difficulty swallowing, obstructive pain in the throat, difficulty speaking, strange voice, sometimes even difficulty breathing. Early stages have no specific symptoms.

Difficultly in swallowing food, pain when swallowing food, coughing up blood, general fever/weight loss/sleep disorders, swollen lymph nodes in the neck and upper chest are all among the common symptoms.

Most common symptoms are difficulties swallowing, cough (in later stages with blood), prolonged throat ache and hoarseness, swelling or lumps (also on the neck).

Symptoms include sudden hoarseness that does not improve in a few weeks, stridor, a hard painless lump in the neck, cough, and a sore throat that does not improve. A history of smoking and an age older than 40 requires that cancer be ruled out by direct laryngoscopy.
