Most common symptoms are squatting a lot but not actually urinating, blood in the urine, not eating, being tired or listless (not playing or showing interest in anything), reacting in pain when the kidney area is pressed upon, and losing weight. A vet can treat kidney infections with antibiotics, if you suspect an infection visit the vet.

Many dogs suffering from kidney infection will often pee blood. A dark yellow/red discharge from the bowels will also indiciate midney infection that should be promptly taken care of. Dogs will often not drink as much water as they usually do. Appetite as well as level of activity will also indicate trouble.
