First get a new pot that is larger than your current one. Place some potting soil in the bottom. Then carefully remove the root ball of the old rubber tree plant from the old pot. Gently loosen any roots that are knotted. Then place the root ball in the new pot. Fill the remaining space with good potting soil.

An indoor Rubber Tree should first have the soil soaked well overnight before replanting. The following day lay out newspaper and pull the plant from the pot. Take a claw hammer or screwdriver and break apart the root ball, keep away from the very center. Place in new pot.

The first step is to select a pot with holes in the bottom for drainage. Cover the bottom with a layer of rocks and some Perlite. Use a knife to open up the root ball. Use more Perlite to bury the roots completely. Water and place plant in filtered sunlight.
