You can remove glue from tiles that have been carpeted over by using dry ice to freeze glue and peel it up with a putty knife. One can also use a heat gun to heat the glue and scrape with a putty knife. Use 220 grit sand paper for sanding.

I have always used a soft abrasive for tile. Try baking soda, borax, or even straigh toothpaste. Also be sure to know what type, if any, glazing is on the tile prior to use. Some cleaners can cause the tile to discolor and have a hazed look.

Cleaning the grout first will make tiles look fresher. Sticking transfers onto the tiles with a pattern on is an economical way to brighten tiles. Tiles can be painted with a colored paint of your choice.

Paint small chips in tile with oil enamel paint. Use a grout saw to remove the grout. Use dry ice or a heat gun, using a plastic putty knife to scrape away the glue. For simple stains, use a soft scouring pad to clean the tile surface.

You should talk someone who does restoration. They could tell you what to do so you don't end up ruining your tile.

If you have ceramic tile that is cracked or broken you can mold a two part epoxy and then said the area lightly to fill the void. Then the tile can be painted with a paint with a high gloss finish similar to that of the other tiles.

The best thing to do is to get CLR and try to clean it. If it does not work you can buy a vinyl floor and lay it over the tile that is on the ground now. That will make it look like brand new and it really does not cost that much.

Take some water, mix it in cement and make a paste and then apply it on the place where you want to fix the tile and thats it. you are ready to fix the tile.

Sometimes restoring tiles can be just as costly and time consuming as replacing the tiles. Be sure that restoring is the way you want to go before you start.

Old tile can be restored quite easily with a good cleaner and water. If the dirt is in the grout between tiles, removal of the grout and replacement is the only clean option for a new look.
