Proper operation of the thyroid gland and thyroid hormone are necessary for your body's metabolic processes. Mild to moderate hypothyroidism can cause weight gain, hair loss on the head or eyebrows, puffiness or bloating on the face or belly, and painful joints and muscles. Severe hypothyroidism can cause goiters or myxedema - a tell-tale waxy skin condition.

You would be feeling fatigue or tired all the time, gaining weight and or having a very hard time to lose weight, your hair would be dry and coarse, you would also experience dry skin, muscle cramping. But the signs for each individual is different, and I would suggest going to the doctor.

You can feel lethargic, sluggish or easily tired. your appetite will be poor and you will eat less but inspite of this you could gain weight disproportionately. Your hands may be dry. You will find it difficult to tolerate cold weather. For women, the menstrual cycle could be irregular and conceiving becomes harder.
