One viable options for bifold doors is sliding doors. While sliding doors don't allow for as much of an opening to a closet as bifold would, because they are on a track they do not pose the same hazard of pinched fingers to children as bifolds.

You can go to your local hardware stores such as Ace, Lowes, Home Depot or even a door specialty store. If you are worried about pinched fingers then you could also look into a french door.

You can put a thin line of felt or rubber along the interior of the joint so that the joint can't close on your fingertips.

There are two options that come to mind. The first would be to hang simple curtains from a pressure spring rod. Cut the curtains in half so you can open and hold them back when using the closet. The second option would be accordian pleated doors. These are usually made of plastic and are installed on a track.
