A sick dog will often be lethargic and sleep more than usual. The dog may be off his food, not respond to treats, and be disinterested in other people and animals around. The dog may also be more anxious than usual. More obvious signs would be vomiting, diarrhea, patchy fur, shaking, limping and excessive thirst.

Lethargy, lack of appetite and many other symptoms that will vary according to the disease. One random sympton is foaming at the mouth and marked hostility toward anything, including you. This, of course, is the symptom of rabies. Another is inflamation of joints, basically arthritis, which afflicts canines more than humans.

There are a multitude of indicators of a sick dog. Vomiting and diarrhea are most common, as well as loss of appetite and lethargy. Constipation can also be an indication, as well as changes in your dog's personality. When dogs are sick they tend to act different than they normally do.
