All the guys should wear white tee shirts with blue jeans and optional leather jackets and greased back hair. The girls should wear poodle skirts and such. You should get a juke box and serve malts and root beer floats. Also pick out some of the biggest hits from that time period to play.

Get a DJ that has an extensive collection of music from that era. Play movies from the 1950s. Dress up like you're from the 1950s. Put up posters and decorations from that era, talk like your'e from that era. Generally have fun with the idea of 1950s. It's a blast.

Make old-fashioned soda fountain drinks like milkshakes, malts, soda (use carbonated water and flavoured syrup), ice cream floats, and egg creams. Alcohol can be added to these recipes if you wish.

Definitly costumes. Make sure people wear poodle skirts, black and white shoes. Decorate the home with old record albums on the walls & vintage hot wheels.

Music and dance videos of that era. Ask the attendees to dress in the 1950's. Make food that was popular in the 50's. Have some historic events that happened during that time. This sounds like fun.

Ask everyone to come in costume. Serve cherry cokes and ice cream sodas. Decorate with pictures of famous people from the '50s. Give jitterbug lessons and dance to popular songs from the era. When the party is in full swing, have a hula hoop contest.

Suggest invitees dress in the 1950 garb, style their hair the way they did back then. Research and serve food from that era.
