Question by  Missa (24)

What are some great wedding reception songs?

I do not want the typical wedding songs or the corny line dance songs.

Some great ones I used at my wedding were: Everything by Michael Bublé, Love Never Fails by Brandon Heath, and Ladies and Gentelemen We Are Floating in Space by Spiritualized.

Lots of couples want more personalized songs at their receptions, rather than traditional "corny" songs. Give your DJ a list of songs that are important to you (the bride/groom) and tell them to give intros to the songs talking about the meaning that the songs have to you both personally.

If you like country music your could play the song "Remember When". Ask all the couples at your reception to come to the dance floor. Its a long song, so as it play have the dj say number of years married. The last couple standing wins!

'Imagine Me and You' by The Turtles is a good upbeat, happy love song. We also had 'Our House' by Crosby, Stills Nash and Young, 'Perfect Day' by Lou Reed, 'I Wanna Hold your Hand' or 'When I'm Sixty Four' by The Beatles are also slightly different, but very romantic, songs.

Your best reception songs are going to be ones people know and are willing to dance to. I am having my first dance to When You Say Nothing At All. I have heard a lot of people like ones like Another One Bites The Dust.

At Last by Etta James is a great wedding reception song for a slow dance song. A few cheesy old songs can be really fun, too, like Disco Duck; but just a few!

Old school hair band hits like "Livin on a Prayer" will be sure to get your guests up and dancing.
