What are some good colleges for being an actress?

The most common and most well known colleges are NYU (New York University), UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), USC (University of Southern California) and UC Berkeley. So, it seems that California and New York are both two states for the best colleges for acting.

Any school with an active theater program is a good place to start. Yale University has one of the premier drama programs in the country.

The American Musical and Dramatic Academy is a very good place. Other good colleges include Brigham Young University (musical theater) or the University of Texas - Austin (drama and film).

Most colleges have good drama cirriculum but to hedge your bets try and attend one that is located in a major entertainment city. Try UCLA, USC in California or NYU or City College in New York. They have affiliation with many productions and some even have internships that gives experience.

Look for a smaller college that gives drama scholarships. Make sure the school offers at least 5-6 plays per year. The goal is to get parts, preferably larger ones; at a large school, you have more competition and less results.

The following; Columbia College located in Chicago, and Ohio State University located in Columbus, Ohio. Another small but reputable college is Otterbein College located just north of Columbus, Ohio.
