Stand straight with your back against a wall. Take a deep breath, one that fills your lungs and you can feel in your stomach. Slowly "hiss" the breath back out.

Laying flat on your back on the floor while practicing singing will force you to use your diaphragm. Pretending to be Santa singing "Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho" while placing your hand on your diaphragm. Singing La.. forcing the air out of diaphragm until can no longer do it.

To strengthen your core for singing, you should lie on your back with a heavy book on your stomach and practice lifting it slowly and steadily with your breath.

Breathing exercises for singing should be very simple as to not stress the throat and vocal cords. The most affective exercise would be to stand up straight, keep your shoulders relaxed, and take a big yawn and say, "ahhhhh."

Relaxing lower abdomen while inhaling. Allowing air to fill lungs, exhale slowly through mouth counting to three. Pause; continue exhaling steadily counting to three. Repeat cycle.

Take a full, deep breath until it almost feels like you're going to cough, then take one very short one while holding the full breath. Ten times. Every day.

There are several breathing exercises that you can use where you are breathing through the back of the throat and through the mouth. There are some other exercises that you can practice as well.
