Usuallay lie detectors measure your pulse while you are making a statement. If the detector sees pulse variations, it's determined as a lie. So if you can remain calm, in other words, if you can control your pulse while telling a lie, then you could beat the test.

It's very hard to beat a lie detector as it measures heart rate. If you're good at keeping yourself calm then you should be fine, try pretending you're somewhere else or imagining soothing images. Maybe you shouldn't have done whatever it is you'll get in trouble for, so just accept the consequences.
