Most ancient Egyptian people were farmers tied to the land and the Nile river. They lived in single family dwellings made of mud brick to help keep out the heat. Most ancient Egyptians valued hygiene and personal appearance. They used soaps made from animal fat and chalk, ointments, and perfumes. Upper classes wore cosmetics and jewelery.

Their way of life would change seasonally - just after the flood of the Nile they would be farmers, and during the flood they would work on other things.

They were very religious, and fearful of the after life. The pharaoh was the ultimate decision maker, although he took advise from his prophets. Almost everyone else was slaves.
