Republican issues are smaller federal government and giving power to states. In general, Republicans don't support any issues that give more power to the executive branch. Democrat issues revolve around more federal regulation stated to provide safeguards against corporate or local corruption. Republicans also tend to favor investment in military or foreign policy, democrats concentrating more on domestic.

Republicans believe in smaller government to maximize individual freedoms. Democrats believe in identity politics, "social justice" based on collective wrongs and collective rights, even if it conflicts with individual rights.

As a general rule, Democrats have more faith in government solving problems in the country and Republicans have more faith in individuals being able to solve problems in the country. There are conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans that have different views from the party stereotype, but the general rule is pretty close.
