You must either have the tools to safely connect the natural gas generator to your natural gas line or have it permanently installed by a professional with a connection to your natural gas line. The alternative is stocking up on many small natural gas tanks AND filling the generator from them.

You should consider these things before getting a natural gas generator: the area you want to power up, the power that will be needed to power the area, you have to know about the size of the gas tank and the source of the fuel, for a stand by generator think about a permanent location.

You first need to determine your power needs (size the generator) and find its cost. Then you should compare the purchase and installation prices of the natural gas generator as compared to just buying an off the shelf gasoline generator. Think about the number of times it will be used, operating costs, and maintenance costs.

Installation costs. It may take two contractors to install the generator. One to run the gas line and another to do the electrical installation.
