8 year olds suffer from a variety of issues. They become very aware of what is socially acceptable. They begin to hold themselves accountable for their own choices. Friends seem to come and go quickly as they try to find the friends that are true friends. They test the boundaries of what consequences will follow for their actions.

The issues quite differ from a 8-year-old boy and a 8-year-old girl. Boys want to be strong and are easily discouraged if they are not as good at something. Girls want to be pretty and can get upset real quick if they new girl in class has the better pullover.

Children this age tend to be shy and unsure of themselves. They tend to experiment with independence, but when they are in an unsure situation that makes them uncomfortable, they quickly come running back to mom or dad. They are still very creative and look at things in a unique different perspective from others.

Growth seems to be an issue for many 8 year olds, their bodies are growing at this point and some even have growning pains.
