After giving birth, the female will look slimmer. Depending on your set-up, you will see the fry; they are very small, and you have to look closely. It is best to put her into a breeding box, if you suspect she is pregnant. It will separate the fry from her after birth, or she herself might eat the babies.

If your guppy has shown bloating in the stomach area along with a darkening of the gravid spot (dark spot on the underside of the fish), your fish is most likely pregnant. Your guppy will have obviously given birth if the size of its stomach has decreased.

A guppy will develop a large dark area in their abdomen as the babies develop. A sure sign that she has given birth is that the spot is markedly reduced.

Guppies give birth to live young so you should be able to see little tiny fish floating around. Pay lots of attention because they are very very small.
