It's completely normal - many people have this condition and don't even know it. A premature electrical signal comes from the atrial part of the heart, causing an off palpitation.
PACs or premature atrial contractions of the heart may be due to conditions outside the heart, such as in illnesses that cause fever. Usually however, this is primary and due to a conduction defect, which can be treated.
