Nonsense poems are light verse that use nonsense or made up words in part or in total. The author relies on the sounds rather than vocabulary to convey the message. Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky" is a prime example. Shel Silverstein wrote lots of nonsense poems. The audience is children, but anyone with a sense of humor enjoys nonsense poetry. Gerbug Zilli!

Nonsense poems are poems, usually aimed at children, which are silly, absurd, strange, and humerous. They usually contain fictional characters that go through weird situations.
