Nerve blocks can be used to locate the exact site of an injury by isolating one area at a time. They are also used for race horses who have a chronic condition. Sometimes they're used in show horses to help keep their tails in one place.

Nerve blocks are used when you want to numb a part of the horse but don't want to have to use anesthetic.

Nerve blocks are used to pin point the location of pain in the limbs and hooves of horses. The vet will do radiographs to determine the injection site, and will inject local anesthesia to specific joints to rule out lameness issues.
