What are interesting facts about Indonesian culture?

My daughter has two new girls in her class, and I want to teach her about their culture so she can relate to them better.

Indonesia has a very diverse population - this diversity is a huge part of the Indonesian cultural identity. Indeed, the national motto of Indonesia is 'Unity in Diversity'. Indonesia is home to some of the rarest creatures in the world, including a fish that can climb trees to catch insects.

Indonesia is an island nation in the Pacific,and their culture is a fusion of native beliefs and Hinduism,Confucianism,Islam,and Buddhism.The folk dances are very stylized and fluid.They are known for their handcrafted shadow puppets,as well as for their cuisine which is influenced by Dutch,Indian and indigenous foods.

A high percentage of the Indonesian culture practices Islam. The country also allow freedom to practice other religions. Rice, seafood and tropical fruits are dominant foods of the Indonesian culture.

Indonesia is made up of approximaately 7,508 islands and is known for its' active volcaneos. It is known as the worlds largest archipelagic state. It is known as a thickly populated country, and is known for this. Indonesia is a very diverse culture, as there are over 500 languages and dialect that are used.
