What are ideas for teaching a horse to sit?

You can teach a horse to sit by teaching him to lay down first. He will get into the sitting position when he starts to rise. Reward him then.

Unfortunately for you, it is impossible to try and teach your horse to sit. You may not realize this but horses do not sit. They only stand or lay down. Sorry.

While there are books and guides out there to help train a horse to do this, it's best left up to the professionals. You could potentially injure the horse or yourself trying to do this. Some horse owners do not understand the dangers of horse training and often get injured doing something stupid.
