What are human vocal chords made of and can they be replaced?

They are made of skin, mucous membranes, cartilage and fibre. There is nothing special about the structure. The air passes by and making those small fibres vibrate and that is what makes the sound. At this point in medical science, they cannot be replaced.

Human vocal chords consist of thin layers of cartilage. They typically cannot be replaced, since th3ey are so delicate and complexly placed.
