Rabies is the only virus that a human can contract from a cat. Toxoplasma is an instestinal parasite that can be spread to humans through cat feces. Ringworm is a fungus that can be spread, but most healthy cats do not have it. Take your cat to the veterinarian to assure its good health.

Right off the top of my head, the one that comes to my mind is toxoplasmosis that causes damage to cells and tissue.

The only disease you really need to worry about getting from your cat is ringworm, which is very easily treated. It is a good idea to have antibacterial ointment in case your cat scratches you or nips you. If you get scratched, wash it carefully and thoroughly, apply ointment and put a band-aid on it.
