You can easily turn carpet squares into bright and colorful bulletin board mats. All you need is a piece of rectangular cloth or cardboard to stick the squares unto and some glue. Stick the squares any way you want to or you can try working in a pattern if you really want to be creative.Fun,easy, quick, and child-friendly!

If you cut the squares into smaller peices, say, 4 inches square, you could have them make a tactile mosaic to adorn your classroom wall. The kids could decide on an image and map it on the wall. If the carpet is all the same color, or the colors aren't attractive, you could use RIT dye to create new colors.

First graders will be limited in cutting the carpet- so you may want to cut small pieces first then let them assemble them in an artwork collage using all colors.

You could use carpet squares to make hanging memo boards or placements for snack time. Use a piece of cork board or sturdy fabric; glue the squares together and mount.

Use a bleach pen that you could find at stores and have them draw a picture on them. They could also do something abstract. They could write their name. Tell them they can do whatever they want with it and see what they come up with. Some kids could just bleach the entire thing.

One of the first thing we did with carpet squares, was to make pads for dog & cat dishes. We stenciled animal prints on the carpet and let it dry. When they get soiled you can vacumn them up. Also they can be mats for cars. We also stenciled autos, bikes, etc. Or mats for the trunk.

Depending on how advanced your children are you can have them attach the carpet square onto an incline. This can then be turned into a science lesson where they can see how the carpet affects movement on the incline compared to an incline that has nothing on it.
