Just like any other animal/human horses are susecptible to things such as influenza and a common cold. Strangles is a very common and highly contagious disease that causes swelling of lymph nodes, fever, lethargy and nasal discharge. Not as common are Potamic horse fever and EPM. There are vaccines for strangles and Potamic.
