Due to its meaningful handling of teen issues and family, the book Tangerine is recommended for ages 11-14, although this often depends on the maturity of the reader. Warning: one scene portrays a fight in which someone dies.

"Tangerine" is intended for middle school kids, in the 11-13 age range. It deals with personal and interpersonal conflict, sibling rivalry, and family dynamics, which are things that often effect kids in that age group. Since the main characters are athletic boys, boys might relate well to them.

It seems like a tween or a young adult novel. It does not seem to have anything inappropriate and is about a young boy who loves to play soccer. He gets sent to another school which seems to teach him to stand up for himself and be proud of himself, which is a good message for younger readers.
