Think outside the vase when looking for containers; anything that can hold water can be a vase. Finally, keep in mind that items grouped in odd numbers tend to be more appealing to the eye.

For table center pieces it is important to either go very tall or very short. If you make your flowers and in between height than they will block your guests view of the other people at the table.
