Most likely your horse has a build up of dirt, grease, and debris inside the ear. You should clean them out to prevent infection.

Horses ears are very sensitive and many horses do not like having them touched and many times it is just a matter of desensitizing them by gently rubbing their ears and rewarding them with a treat afterwards.

Some animals, like the horse, tend to have sensitive hearing. There is nothing to worr about, unless you find that your horse is now becoming deaf.

Your horse may simply be ear shy from having rough handling, or there may be medical causes, such as mites, or sarcoid. Be safe- have a vet check her.

If he is ever tranquilized for the vet, this is the perfect opportunity to get him accustomed to you touching his ears. It's also a perfect time to cleaannn his ears with a thin rag (horses get ear wax too! ). Take a few minutes everyday to touch his ears.

Make sure he doesn't have mites or another infestation. You will be able to see small scabs in his ears, and you need to treat mites right away.

Your horse might have ear mites, or warts deep in his ears- both are quite painful. Or he might be ear shy from rough handling at some point in his life. Get a vet check to rule out health issue, and then handle gently. Good luck!

If it is sensitive to the touch it could be a couple things it may be the ears are just a bit sore or it could be that the horse has had something bad happen and just doesn't like its ears touched.

Yes and no. It's not an uncommon problem. Some horses just don't like their ears touched. You can rub your horses ears with your hands or objects to help desensitize them. Just remember to reward them with a pet or a treat everytime. You can touch the horses ears everytime you go to feed them as well.
