My wife is till bleeding after 40 days--is it normal?

After having a surgery like this, typical bleeding is 3-4 weeks however it can last longer. I recommend contacting her doctor and being seen just to rule out complications.

After this type of delivery, it is normal for blood loss because that is a traumatic surgery. It is usually normal to have some bleeding for up to one month. However, bleeding should be closely monitored if it is happening after this time frame. Her cycle could also be starting again.

After having a C-section it's normal to bleed more than with a normal birth. Some as long as 6 weeks. I would see your physician to make sure.

A Cesarean delivery can be a shock to the system. However if no other symptoms are present give it another 40 days.
