That means she is very close to having the kittens whatever you do don't push in on her belly at all you do not want to put her into pre-mature labor.

In the eigth and nineth week of pregnancy a cats belly becomes hard and pear-shaped. No need to worry though, it just means your cats almost ready to give birth.

This most likely means the kittens are getting bigger and soon labor will begin. She will start to nest and then you will know it is time.

The cats stomach is hard because it has to be due to protection for the growing kittens. Much like when a women is pregnant her abdominal area expands and becomes hard to protect the baby from any outside dangers while it grows. There should be no need for worry just keep an eye on the cat.

That is quite normal during pregnancy for all species. Usually the stomach is very hard because that is where the fetuses are contained. Weight gained during pregnancy in the stomach is not from fat, it is from embryonic fluid and the fetuses themselves meaning that it will naturally be hard, not soft and squishy like fat.
