This part you must replace when it's leaking. There is no real way to patch a gas tank. You could patch weld it but this requires you to drain and make sure that nothing will catch fire. Thus making it very dangerous. Replacing the Tank is wiser.

Where is the gas tank leaking from? Since the fuel system is a pressurized system, I would buy a junk yard tank and replace it. I've seen people put bolts with liquid gasket sealer into holes before. You could use strong adhesive and glue a patch over the hole, but this will not last.

Welding the leak closed is most likely necessary. If you don't have welding experience I'd recommend you NOT try. Obviously the gas will have to be emptied and the gas tank will have to be uninstalled for the procedure. After that it's a simple welding fix that most welders would know how to do.

Well if it is a metal tank you will need to find a shop to repair it. Good luck though cause a lot of people won't weld on gas tanks because t is s dangerous. If you have a plastic tank it may be easier to find someone to fix it. However it may be cheaper just to replace it.

There is no way to fix a leaking tank that is 100% safe. The best route is to replace the tank entirely, with a new unit, which are available at any auto parts retailer.
