My face, shoulders and chest turned red last night, but they're fine today--what's the cause?

I could be the sign of a minor allergic reaction. The reaction could have been caused by something you ate. It can slao be a sign or stress or a reaction to the sun.

It sounds like you might have been allergic to something. If you ate a new food/drank a new drink, that could be the cause. Or it could be an indicator of dry skin or too much scratching.

Either you had a reaction to something that caused hives, or you have high blood pressure. Since you had a days rest you have calmed down. Check with your doctor there could be underlying problem.

This could be a mild allergic reaction; the perservatives in wine will sometimes make a person flush; if you are a women over 40 years old, it's possibly a hot flash (sorry ladies! ). Perimenopause can last for many years before becoming full blown menopause.
