My dog sometimes has a white/greenish discharge from his nose. Should I worry about this?

Any discharge from your dog's nose may be a sign of infection from bacteria or viruses. Even if your dog is not showing any other signs of sickness (vomiting, lack of appetite, etc.), it is probably best to contact your vet if it is persistent.

You should definitely take your dog to a veterinarian near you. A dogs nose tells a lot about his or her health. A moist cold nose is a sign of a healthy dog while a warm dry nose usually means that a dog has a temperature. A white or greenish discharge may mean the dog has a cold.

Any type of colored discharge froma dogs nose is an indication of infection. It could be caused by a simple allergy or something more serious like kennel cough or other respiratory infection. You should contact youe vet immediately. They will most likely start the dog on an antibiotic and give them a kennel cough shot if needed.

It is a good idea to take your dog to the vet. Causes for greenish discharge include foreign matter stuck in the nose, infections, and nasal cancer.
