When dealing with series and parallel circuits voltage and current can add. In a series circuit specifically, the voltage drop across each resistor adds to the total voltage in the circuit. Likewise the current is the same across each resistor. The voltage is only as high as the battery can handle though.

Certain mills will be given a different voltage of input which will give the current to run the machine. In houses the voltage of current given will be less. When ever high voltage of current is required it can given either as AC or DC.
