Chichuahuas and other toy breeds (teacup poodles, etc) have spasms in their tracheas (windpipes). Those spasms can produce wheezing or coughing that sounds like asthma in humans.

It is possible for household dogs and cats to get asthma, just like humans do. The symptoms in dogs are generally the same as humans such as coughing and wheezing. There are other illnesses or causes for dogs to cough, though, so it is important to bring your dog or cat to the vet for a correct diagnosis.

I have never heard of that but you might want to take it to the vet it may have heartworm that will give them a funny chronic cough. There is treatment for heartworm if they can catch it early enough. If not it can be very fatal I think they may even have a vaccination for it now.

Yes chihuahuas can have asthma cough. It is also common for a chihuahua to take asthma medication from humans. Amoxicillin can be used for cure.

Dogs cough fairly frequently, and some dogs have more coughing problems than others. Dogs don't have official "asthma" but they may appear to have some of the same symptoms as asthma in humans. If her dog just started coughing recently it could be kennel cough, which should be treated with antibiotics.

chihuahuas can have differnt types of allergies that makes them cough all the time or just randomly. You may want to take note of when and where the symptoms are occouring they may be allergic to something you use in your house.
