Question by  brianguy (21)

Is there a site or a special formula you can use to calculate the mileage between two cities?

I am trying to create an itinerary, including where to stop based on miles traveled each day.

You could try the Rand Mcnally site or you could do it the old fashioned way with a ruler. An inch equals 100 miles.

Mapquest offers this service. Just click on the "directions" button, and enter your two cities. The site will give you not only the mileage but approximate travel time and directions.

The easiest way is to use one of the major mapping websites, such as MapQuest or Bing maps. Both will calculate times and travel distances to drive from city to city. You can also add multiple destinations, and customize the route taken. For instance, you may want to specify a particular road off of the route to visit a landmark.

Google Maps is a very convenient tool that can be used with internet access. Google Maps allows for a user to search for mileage between two cities or popular landmarks by typing the two endpoints into the boxes on the left-hand side of the page. Google Maps also provides detailed directions to reach your destination.
