Is there a guide to identifying gemstones?

I'd appreciate suggestions of titles that might be good.

Identifying gemstones can be tougher than you think. Using a guide helps, but does not guarantee accuracy. With that said, I reccomend using Simon & Schuster's 'Guide to Gems and Precious Stones'. Another excellent source is your local Gem & Mineral Club. This can be found through the American Federation of Minerolgical Society's website.

Book stores sells books entitled Gemstones: Understanding, identifying and Buying gemstones. The International Gem Society reference library would be helpful too.

Crystal bible is really good. It shows you the stone, and tells you about color variations and some of the properties each stone is believed to have if you're looking for that as well.
